The Greenwich Town Map Celebrates a Decade of Community Connection and

our Nation’s 250th Birthday

By LIZ LEAMY

This year represents a benchmark moment for the Greenwich Town Map as it will be celebrating the 10th anniversary as one of the town’s most cherished community resources.

According to Liz Norfleet, its founder and owner, the mission of the Greenwich Town Map has always been to support and uplift the local economy by promoting our beloved shops, restaurants, museums, and key landmarks in town.

Loved by many residents from the Greenwich community both young and old, along with visitors alike, the Greenwich Town Map is proud to release a special edition for spring and summer of 2026.

This commemorative edition will also serve as a tribute to our nation as we celebrate the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

George and Martha Washington, Ben Franklin, Yankee Doodle Doggie, and the historic tall ship, The Oosterschelde will have a guest appearance in this edition. Make sure to look for them on the map and the QR codes that will provide details of the special events taking place in Greenwich during the upcoming months.

The Spark that Started it All

Back in 2015 during a conversation Liz Norfleet had with Garrison Gunter, a third generation Greenwich resident and the former owner of Cook and Craft, a kitchenware shop based in Old Greenwich, Liz had asked Garrison, “What can I do to help support the local businesses in town?”

Garrison, in turn, was quick to respond with “Liz, we need a town map!” A year later, the first edition of the Greenwich Town Map was launched.

Right from the outset, the map was a runaway success with its engaging animated style, providing information about where to shop, dine, and visit around town.

“This is a colorful, informational, and fun map for people to have as a reference,” said Gunter, who is a broker with Corcoran Centric Realty located on Mason Street in Greenwich.

“Greenwich is a wonderful and dynamic town, and there’s such an incredible community of people here. I really feel much of the spirit of the town and its people are reflected in the map,” said Gunter.

According to Norfleet, Craig Jones, co-owner of Greenwich Point Marketing, joined her in helping to bring the concept of a map to reality, providing all the details, a plethora of photos, and specific direction to our talented Illustrator Jim Roldan from New Hampshire, who then brought the whole format to life, both in print and digital. This endeavor was a painstaking process, a true labor of love.

Jessica Reid, co-owner of Greenwich Point Marketing, also joined the team by providing engaging marketing materials, and from there, Norfleet hit the pavement, going door to door, rounding up the advertisers who embraced the vision.

From its inception to today , Norfleet has been and is very grateful for all of the truly wonderful, community-minded, business owners in Greenwich who have continued to support the map over the past 10 years, for without them we would not have our beloved town map!

Norfleet has made sure that the maps are distributed and easily accessible throughout Greenwich where they are offered gratis. “I am looking forward to growing our digital presence through our website www.VisitGreenwichCT.com to provide a more engaging community resource.

“I would like to thank God for allowing me the opportunity to create the map during a very difficult time in my life. He has blessed me with the skills and people necessary to publish the Greenwich Town Map, year after year. And lastly, I extend a big thank you to all our faithful advertisers and supporters, because you are the reason for the ultimate success of the map,” said Norfleet.

Most definitely, it will be just as exciting for the many map lovers both in terms of celebrating its 10th anniversary, and in looking ahead to its future role in Greenwich and beyond, that is for sure.
